In order to provide students with a safe place to learn, classroom rules and a behavior management plan is necessary. My number one classroom rule is respect. I believe that students need to respect themselves, their peers, their teachers, and the school building. During the first week of school we developed classroom rules as a class.
Each student has a Velcro stoplight on their desk with a Velcro car attached to the light. At the start of each day, all students will begin the day on green. If a child receives a behavior warning or forgets an assignment he or she will move the car to yellow. By having the student move his or her own clothespin, he or she will realize that they made the choice to do complete the behavior.
If the student is on yellow, he or she has the opportunity to move back to green with good behavior. If a student moves to red, the student’s parents will be contacted. They do not have the opportunity to move back once they get to red.
Each morning, all students move back to green.
This allows each day to be a fresh start for students. If you have any questions regarding the classroom management plan, please feel free to contact me.
This is an example of the stoplight that will be on each students desk to remind them of their behavior decisions.
